PAUL J. MOSCATO, MAI

Principal

I was introduced to the business by my father Lou Moscato who started the company in 1979.  I’m a native Oregonian and, after going to school and living in California, moved back to Portland permanently in 2007.  At that time, I joined Moscato, Okoneski & Associates as a researcher.  In 2012 I became a certified general appraiser, in 2016 received my MAI designation and in 2017 I became the newest partner in the firm.  One of my biggest professional accomplishments was obtaining my MAI in 2016, as it was a culmination of years of experience and education.  My demonstration report coincided with the birth of my first son, which made it even more challenging.  Having started in the industry at the beginning of the ‘great recession’ I was exposed to an industry in turmoil but have seen Portland re-emerge as a thriving real estate market.  My favorite part of commercial appraisal is the exposure to a variety of assignments ranging from small owner-user buildings, to master planned town centers and everything in between.  I enjoy working with our clients to collection and analysis of data as it relates to problem solving.  Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my wife Vicki and our two-year old son Aaron, playing basketball, golfing, hiking, and exploring new restaurants.

First job: Bag boy at QFC

Local Favorites
Favorite local/Portland restaurant: Piazza Italia
Favorite area in Oregon/SW Washington to enjoy the outdoors: Latourell Falls is one of my favorite hikes in the Gorge.  Easy access, good trail and you can get right to the edge.
